Dobson Cundiff acquired an early appreciation for the fine arts under the tutelage of her father Steven Gaston Dobson, an accomplished Chicago illustrator. Her efforts and talent led to a full scholarship at the famed Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida.
Her painting style is influenced by the study of paintings by Degas, Fechin, Manet, Sargent, Sorolla and Zorn, and by great illustrators like Pyle, Remington, Rockwell and Wyeth.
Over the years numerous road trips along back roads has inspired her to paint the landscape. Rural scenes with old barns, houses with wide porches, farm fields and the people that work them are subjects that are close to her heart.
Ms Cundiff graduated with honors from the Ringling School of Art and has studied with master painters Clayton Beck, Scott Burdick, Alan Hunt, Ramon Kelly, John Seerey-Lester, Richard Schmid, Romel de la Torre and Burton Silverman.
