Durinda’s paintings, whether en plein air or in her studio, capture the illusion of light with jewel-like colors and expressive brush strokes. Working with oils and watercolors, she depicts southern scenes of lovely old homes, intimate courtyards, beautiful gardens and peaceful countrysides. Traveling abroad has provided her with subjects of Parisian cafés and flower markets, Monet’s home and garden, Italian street scenes and Burgundy vineyards.
After receiving a M.Ed in art education, Durinda taught art on the college level and at a private college prep high school. Now a full-time painter, she maintains a studio in northwest Georgia adjacent to a national Civil War battlefield. Her work is featured in many private and corporate collections and has been selected in several national juried exhibitions.
